A truly festive mood is in the air as the entire West Visayas State University began the 2017 University Week Celebrations today January 25, 2017. With the theme “WVSU: A Continuing Journey to Academic Quality and Excellence”, the next three days promised to be jam packed with exciting activities where students and faculty can both enjoy.

The day started with a thanksgiving mass held at the WVSU Cultural Center. It was followed by a campus parade participated by students, faculty and staff. Despite being under the warm glow of late morning sunshine, everybody converged at the football field to witness the opening ceremony.

Each college was presented with individually creative introductions proclaimed by their college deans. After which, gorgeous damsels and virile gentlemen competing for the Mr. and Miss WVSU 2017 title took center stage to introduce themselves.

WVSU President Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr. beamed as he urged everyone to enjoy the University Week celebration. “We are gathered today because we celebrate our being together, we celebrate our achievements, and we celebrate friendship and healthy competition. Let us look forward to more blessings, more challenges to come, and together we shall face them with gratitude and resilience as we journey towards academic quality and excellence!”
