The College of Nursing (CON) welcomed three accreditors for the 1st Formal Survey Visit today at the CON Amphitheater as preparation for this year’s institutional accreditation. The said visit will run from May 24- 26, 2017 for the accreditation of the Master of Arts in Nursing (MAN) program to pass Level 1.
CON Dean Dr. Rosana Grace Belo-Delariarte praised her team of hardworking nursing professors “I am amazed by the energy, dedication, and patience that these men and women have showed, I can clearly see how committed they are towards the college’s goal because they have gone back to the university despite them being on summer break. Truly, their thirst for quality and excellence remains unquenched”. Dr. Delariarte further explained that that the result of CON’s accreditation as a college somehow depends of this 3-day survey visit where M.A.N. program is will be checked and observed.
The three esteemed accreditors were led by team leader Dr. Mary Lou Ong from Cebu Normal University (CNU). She will take charge of Areas 1 (Vision, Mission, Goals, and Objectives), 2(Faculty), and 3 (Curriculum and Instruction). She is joined by Prof. Aida L. dela Cerna also from CNU who will be checking areas 4, 7, and 9 (Support to Students, Library, and Laboratories). Completing the team is Prof. Victoria P. Besana from Central Philippines State University who will be handling areas 5, 6, 8, and 10 (Research, Extension and Community Involvement, Physical Plant and Facilities, and Administration). “The lifeblood of WVSU is accreditation, and it is therefore be equated with excellence. Today as we visit the graduate program of the College of Nursing, rest assured that we shall use our eyes to see the documents, the ears to listen to reports through interviews, the physical mobility to check certain areas in the college, and the emotional balance to remain rational with our judgment”.
Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Bobby G. Gerardo emphasized the need for accreditation as being a mandatory requirement in maintaining quality education. “From the home of the topnotchers, we are pleased to welcome our three guests who will be our partner in preparing us for this year’s institutional accreditation. WVSU aims to maintain the status of being number 1, and we see it as our role to remain competitive and relevant in the light of increasing global competitiveness”. Dr. Gerardo further explained that M.A.N. is the last program to undergo accreditation before the university attains 100% accreditation status.
