The Philippine Council for Agriculture, Aquatic and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCAARRD) in coordination with the new WESVARRDEC base agency in West Visayas State University is conducting a SFITS Training on Techno Gabay (TGP) Project Documentation –Writeshop at the WVSU CTE/Hometel from August 28-31, 2012. Techno Gabay is one of PCAARRD’s banner programs which aim to bring science-based information and technology services to end users in the agriculture, forestry and natural resources (AFNR) sectors. In order to develop, validate and promote modalities to facilitate the promotion, utilization and commercialization of technologies developed by consortium member agencies (CMA) agencies, a strong skill set and capability in project process documentation is a prerequisite.
The 4-day training aims to develop the capabilities of the participants composed of FITS (Farmers Information and Technology Services) center managers, MS (Magsasakang Siyentista), ISS (Information Service Specialists) and TSS (Technology Service Specialists) from Regions 4, 5, 6 and 7. Dr. Noeni S. Nepomuceno, the new consortium director of WESVARRDEC welcomed the participants while Dr. Melvin B. Carlos, director of TTPD-PCAARD (Technology Transfer Program Division-PCAARRD) highlighted the importance and magnitude of project documentation in promoting the gains and successes of FITS projects not just locally but internationally. He cited the upcoming convention Global Forum for Rural Advisory Services slated in Manila on September 24- 28, 2012 as a venue that will showcase Techno Gabay best practices and successes to a global audience. As result of rigorous project documentation, two FITS centers and a Magsasakang Siyentista were selected to be featured in the said international convention.The training-writeshop is modular in design and will feature topics such as Introduction to Project Documentation, Basic Skills in Project Documentation and Writing for FITS Reporting/Case/IEC Material. The participants will likewise be trained on photo documentation, biotech and communication efforts as well such data validation and analysis.
