West Visayas State University (WVSU) recognized the 14 graduates of the University’s College of Information and Communications Technology (CICT) Bachelor of Library and Information Science (BLIS) program who successfully passed the September 2026 Librarians Computer-Based Licensure Examination during the weekly flag-raising ceremony on Sept. 14.

Among the new licensed librarians is Class of 2026 valedictorian Louise Angelika P. Pahilanga, who placed second nationwide with a rating of 92.40%.

The achievement was highlighted during the ceremony hosted by the WVSU College of Medicine under Dean Dr. Celina Gellada, as the University community welcomed and congratulated the new professionals for their achievement.

Meanwhile, students, faculty, and staff were encouraged to avail themselves of government services being offered at the Annex 3 of the Roxas Hall, College of Medicine.

The services include PhilHealth membership registration, registration for the PhilHealth Yaman ng Kalusugan (YAKAP) Program, and National ID registration. Members of the University community were encouraged to take advantage of these services, particularly those who may still need to complete their registration.

The service initiative forms part of “Handog ng Pangulo: Serbisyong Sapat para sa Lahat,” a nationwide government initiative that brings government agencies together to make frontline services and assistance more accessible to communities.

Through the weekly flag-raising ceremony, WVSU continues to provide a venue for recognizing the achievements of its community while sharing information and connecting students, faculty, and staff with services and opportunities relevant to their needs.

West Visayas State University (WVSU) joined government employees and citizens across the country in the Lingkod Bayani Run 2026 on Sept. 13, with University officials, faculty members and staff taking part in the nationwide event held in celebration of the 126^th Philippine Civil Service Anniversary.

More than 1,600 runners took part in the Region VI leg of the event, including 39 WVSU employees who participated in the 3K, 5K and 10K men’s and women’s categories.

Adding to WVSU’s participation, Febrah Mae Tacorda, faculty member of the College of Physical Education, Sports, Culture, Arts and Recreation, secured third place in the women’s 10K category.

Organized by the Civil Service Commission (CSC), the Lingkod Bayani Run is a nationwide fun run that promotes wellness, unity and public service pride among government employees and citizens. The 2026 edition was held simultaneously in various locations across the country, bringing together public servants, their families and members of the community in a shared celebration of health, solidarity and service.

More than a fitness activity, the run highlighted the value of collective participation in strengthening connections among public servants and reinforcing their shared commitment to serving the Filipino people. This year’s event also supported the Pamanang Lingkod Bayani Program of the CSC, which provides recognition and assistance to government workers and their families.

WVSU’s participation reflects the University’s support for initiatives that promote employee well-being while fostering unity and a strong culture of public service. Through activities such as the Lingkod Bayani Run, WVSU joins fellow public institutions in promoting a healthier, more connected and service-oriented public sector.
