Center for Teaching Excellence

About Us

The Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) of West Visayas State University serves as a hub for professional development, educational innovation, and institutional collaboration. Established in 2009, CTE has grown into an academic unit that addresses the growing need for quality and continuous professional learning among educators and other professionals within WVSU and other institutions across the region.

Furthermore, in view of their commitment to strengthening educational practices, CTE actively collaborates with other academic institutions, government agencies, and professional organizations at the regional, national, and international levels.

Currently, CTE is accredited by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) as an official Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Provider for Professional Teachers. Soon, the Center aims to apply for accreditation as a CPD provider for Librarians, Nurses, Doctors, Foresters, Dentists, and other programs with licensure examinations that are offered within the WVSU System.

OUR INSTITUTIONAL ROLE

CTE is mandated to respond to the challenges of improving the university’s teaching and learning landscape by offering avenues for professional development and continuing education, curricular innovation through instructional and media technology production, and collaboration among professional organizations at the regional, national, and international levels.

OUR SERVICES

CTE Main Hall Rental

CTE offers a professional venue for academic seminars, workshops, and training events. The hall is fully equipped with multimedia facilities and is available for use by WVSU units and external partners.

CPD Program Accreditation

CTE supports both in-house and collaborative initiatives for CPD-accredited training programs. This includes CTE-initiated workshops and co-developed activities with other colleges, departments, and external organizations.

CTE Production Room

The CTE Production Room is a dedicated space where faculty and students can create educational content such as video lessons, audio recordings, and other multimedia learning materials. It serves as a creative hub that supports flexible learning and instructional innovation.
