    WVSU, Villaruz signs Technical Licensing Agreement with Pototan Multi-Purpose Cooperative

    On behalf of West Visayas State university (WVSU), Dr. Joselito Villaruz has signed a Technical Licensing Agreement with the Pototan Multi-Purpose Cooperative to commercialize a novel souring agent made from batuan and taro powder, a technology developed by WVSU. Held on July 22, 2024 at the WVSU Board Room, Dr. Raymund Gemora, Campus Administrator, represented WVSU Pototan Campus, while Pototan Multi-Purpose Cooperative was represented by Dr. Eugene Tañedo, Chairman, and Dr. Charlie Dormindo, Manager. 

    This partnership aims to bring this innovative solution to the market and drive further research and development. The agreement is expected to benefit the public and support local economic growth, aligning with WVSU’s vision to become a research university.

    Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz attended the Co-Creation and Ideation Workshop “PROJECT CO-LAB FOR HEALTH: A Co-Creation Mechanism for Optimized Health Service Delivery and Enhanced Patient Experience in the Outpatient Department of WVSU Medical Center” on July 18, 2024. 

    The workshop aimed to co-create innovative solutions that would optimize health service delivery and enhance patient experience in the Outpatient Department of WVSU Medical Center.

    Earlier this morning, students from the National University of Singapore (NUS) paid a courtesy call to Dr. Joselito Villaruz at West Visayas State University (WVSU) Main Campus. 

    This visit marks the commencement of the 2nd Transcultural Nursing program, a collaborative effort between the College of Nursing at WVSU and NUS.

    The NUS students will tour the WVSU Main Campus and the WVSU Medical Center, engaging in activities aimed at fostering global learning and cultural exchange in nursing education. 

    This partnership also underscores our dedication to enhancing the educational experience through international collaboration.

    WVSU, SM Foundation sign MOA for Quezon Hall restoration

    A Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) was signed among Dr Joselito F. Villaruz M.D., Ph.D., FPPS​West Visayas State University (WVSU) President​, Henry Sy Sr Foundation and SM Foundation. 

    Henry Sy Sr Foundation is restoring the Quezon Hall or Bulwagang Quezon in Iloilo, which is officially registered with the Philippine Registry of Cultural Property (PRCP). 

    Among the most important educational institutions during the American Rule was the Iloilo Normal School (1902) now West Visayas State University.Construction started in August 19, 1919. 

    Restoration started on the capiz shell windows, balustrade, trusses, wooden roofing and replacement of all electrical and plumbing improvements, which were all under the supervision and approval of PRCP.

    Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz and Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas sealed a partnership today, June 27, 2024, at Iloilo City Hall that will shape the future of public administration in the city. The Memorandum of Agreement, signed by the two leaders, outlines the terms and conditions for a collaboration that will provide academic programs to develop excellence in public administration among government employees.

    Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz attended and signed the Memorandum of Agreement for the Multi-Sectoral Advisory Council of Iloilo City, which is envisioned to serve as a multi-sectoral knowledge management hub where clientele have access to intellectual capital to empower communities, sustain good governance, preserve culture, and create a resilient economy. The signing ceremony was held at Diversion 21 Hotel today, June 27, 2024,  joined by Mayor Treñas and other stakeholders.
