It was in 1947 when the desire of Lambunaonons to establish a general high school was born into reality. The municipal council headed by Mayor Helarion Castigador, Vice Mayor Hipolito Larupay and Councilors Jose L. Caspillo, Alerto Senador, Francisco Roncesvalles, Anacleto Latanafrancia, Nemesio Lingaya, and Andres Loot facilitated the realization of the cite donation.

The campus has an area of 90,499 square meter donated by Mrs. Martina Hablado- Lauron; Mrs. Sotera Lauron-Castigador, Mrs Teofila Lizada-Lavilla and Mrs. Lorenza Lizada- Losañes.

After signing the deed of donation, Lambunao Junior High School with a general curriculum was constructed. It started operation with a three-room building, Mr. Conrado Jalandoni (1947-1950) as its first principal and Mr. Agustin Alibusa as its first PTA President.

In 1950, Vicente Roco became the next principal of the school and it was renamed Lambunao High School. His service lasted for almost two years.

In the hope of giving the youth of Lambunao better chances of employment and a promising livelihood after graduation, the idea of converting the school into trade one was envisioned. Mr. Jose Gonzales, as a new principal, presented the idea to Congressman Ricardo Y. Ladrido and the members of the council in 1952.

Congressman Ladrido, considering the resolution by the municipal council, prepared the bill converting the school into a vocational one on June 16, 1956. Republic Act 1795 defined the conversion of Lambunao High School into Iloilo Vocational School, signed by President Ramon Magsaysay. It was the first General High School to become a vocational institution in the country. With this, Congressman Ricardo Y. Ladrido became the father of Vocational Education in the Philippines.

The school was managed by Mr. Jose L. Gonzales under the supervision of the Division Superintendent but on the later part, it was given to the Iloilo School of Arts and Trades. For almost 13 years of his service, Mr. Gonzales is known to be a dynamic and an output-oriented leader. It was then followed by energetic and strong leaders of their times, Mr. Alfredo Pineda (1956-1968) and Mr. Leon Alicer (1968-1976).

In 1970, the school was renamed Lambunao Vocational School to give recognition to the municipality of Lambunao where it is located. Under this vocational curriculum, the school offered Furniture and Cabinet Making, Building Construction, Industrial Electricity, Sheet Metal Works and Industrial Ceramics for boys; and Food Trades, Dressmaking, and Handicraft were offered as major courses for girls.

It was in 1977, during the term of Dr. Godofredo Gallega, Vocational School Administrator when the school was changed to Lambunao Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) and offered courses for secondary and tertiary level. The curriculum in the Master of Arts in Teaching Vocational education (MATVE) was also introduced.

When Dr. Gallega assumed his promotion as Vocational School Superintendent II of PSCA, Mr. Jose E. Esquerra occupied the Vocational School Administrator`s position in 1979.

Upon Mr. Esquera`s retirement in 1968, Dr. Petronilo L. Figueroa assumed office and became the First Vocational School Superintendent II.   During his time, LIST  Graduate School and ROTC Unit became independent entities. The Majority of the course offerings were College courses under the Commission on Higher Education.   The secondary department was allowed to enroll  500 students only.

Dr. Agueda S. Lavilla became the Vocational School Supervisor III after the retirement of Dr. Figueroa in 1997.

Republic Act No. 8292 known as the Commission of Higher Education Modernization Act identified LIST for integration to West Visayas State University-Lambunao Campus.  The integration defined the transfer of the secondary department of the school to the Lambunao National High School under the supervision of the Department of Education.   The school was officially integrated under the dynamic umbrella of West Visayas State University in 2000.   Dr.  Jeremias  L. Convocar became the OIC Campus Administrator of the University after the retirement of Dr. Agueda Lavilla.

The retirement of Dr. Lavilla brought Engr. Harlan C. Dureza to the seat of the Campus Administrator whose first year of reign was marked by the success of the second grand alumni homecoming on May 14, 2005, which was attended by 75% of the alumni from all over the world.   The present set-up of the school offers a very promising future to the youth of the Third District or even of the neighboring Districts in the Province and in Region VI.   Curriculum and Infrastructure was the top priority in the administration of Dr. Dureza.   It was during Dr. Dureza`s term that the bulk of accreditation preparation started for the Bachelor of Elementary Education School.

Dr. Dureza was transferred to WVSU-Main Campus upon the approval of BOR Resolution No. 38, s. 2005 on November 1, 2009, to April 1, 2005, and Dr. Henry Andora, Vice President for Academic Affairs, became the OIC Campus, since this is the first AACCUP preliminary survey visit for the BEED Program, making WVSU Lambunao Campus, since this is the first AACCUP preliminary survey visit for BEED Program, making WVSU Lambunao be the first external campus to heed the call of accreditation.

Dr.  Dominador L. Lisao`s term as the Campus Administrator started last June 2010.  At one year Lisao`s reign, six programs, BEED, BSED, MAED, BSCRIM, and MSCRM, obtained a level one in an Accreditation visit conducted by AACCUP.   In 2012, two curricular programs, BSHRM and BS InfoTech passed the level 1 accreditation survey visit.   In 2013 the Bachelor of Technical Teacher Education and Master of Arts in Education (Reading) was visited for its preliminary survey visit.
