The Philippine National Flag is flown half-mast at West Visayas State University in observance of Presidential Proclamation No. 728, declaring today, November 4, 2024, as a Day of National Mourning for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
Earlier today, the College of Education spearheaded the flag raising ceremony wherein the attendees were asked to pause for a moment of silence and to offer their prayers and sympathies for the storm victims and their families.
Dr. Peter Ernie Paris, Vice President for Administration and Finance, also encouraged the administrative personnel to facilitate and mobilize relief assistance initiatives for the storm victims.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report released last October 30, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine left a death toll of 145 and has affected over 7 million Filipinos nationwide.
