West Visayas State University Calinog Campus (WVSU – CC) started as Calinog High School (CALHI), a regional high school established in 1947. Republic Act No. 2399 converted the Calinog High School to Calinog Agricultural and Industrial School (CAIS). Then on July 15, 1977, CAIS became a tertiary-level institution and was renamed Calinog Agricultural and Industrial College (CAIC).
Republic Act 7722, under the late President Fidel V. Ramos, placed CAIC under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). In 2000, the West Visayas State University integrated CAIC into its educational system and earned its autonomy in 2005, offering both undergraduate and graduate programs.
WVSU-CC is housed within a sprawling 46.55 hectares of land with modern buildings, spacious classrooms, a library, an on-campus mini-hotel, and sports facilities. After fulfilling mandatory requirements, CHED granted the school Certificates of Program Compliance (COPC) to all its undergraduate programs. Further, SOCOTEC Certification International has certified WVSU-CC with an ISO 9001:2015.
