WVSU, PESO Iloilo City holds university-wide job fair

West Visayas State University (WVSU), through its Office of Student Affairs (OSA), partnered with the Public Employment Service Office (PESO) Iloilo City to conduct the WVSU University-wide PESO Job Fair 2026 on June 24 at the 2nd Floor of the Hometel Building, WVSU Main Campus.

The job fair, which opened at 9 a.m., brought together fresh graduates and alumni with various private companies and government agencies offering employment opportunities. The initiative aims to help strengthen Iloilo City’s workforce by connecting qualified job seekers with potential employers.

This year’s event marks the third collaboration between WVSU and PESO Iloilo City in staging the university-wide job fair, reflecting the institutions’ shared commitment to supporting graduates as they transition from academic life to professional careers.

In an exclusive statement, PESO Iloilo City Manager Mx. Gabriel Felix M. Umadhay underscored the importance of employment as the next step after higher education.

“It is important because this is where we get to test the real skills. After four years of hard education in this institution, what’s next? Employment. Winning the job and getting the career they prepared for is the final exam of this institution.” Umadhay said.

They also encouraged job seekers to look beyond compensation and consider alignment between their abilities, values and prospective workplaces.

“A successful job offer is one where your skills and values are aligned. It’s more than the pay. It’s really about your skills and your values, and how they help the company.” they added.

The opening program featured remarks from Dr. Peter Ernie D. Paris, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Ma. Pilar S. Malata, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs; and Mx. Umadhay. A ribbon-cutting ceremony formally opened the job fair, followed by employer engagement activities and on-site application opportunities for participants.

Through initiatives such as the university-wide job fair, WVSU continues to advance its commitment to excellence and service by preparing graduates for meaningful employment and productive participation in nation-building.
