Presidential Proclamation No. 728

The Philippine National Flag is flown half-mast at West Visayas State University in observance of Presidential Proclamation No. 728, declaring today, November 4, 2024, as a Day of National Mourning for the victims of Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
 
Earlier today, the College of Education spearheaded the flag raising ceremony wherein the attendees were asked to pause for a moment of silence and to offer their prayers and sympathies for the storm victims and their families.
 
Dr. Peter Ernie Paris, Vice President for Administration and Finance, also encouraged the administrative personnel to facilitate and mobilize relief assistance initiatives for the storm victims.
 
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council report released last October 30, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine left a death toll of 145 and has affected over 7 million Filipinos nationwide.

Tuition and Other School Fees Payment Update

The WVSU Finance Office (Main Campus) would like to inform all students that direct payment of tuition and other school fees at SM Payment Centers will no longer be available starting September 30, 2024.

 

However, you can still make payments at SM Bills Payment by using Dragonpay through the University’s Integrated University Information System (IUIS).

WVSU still top univ in WV; ranks 18th nationwide in Webometrics July 2024 PH rankings

West Visayas State University (WVSU) ranks first among universities in the Western Visayas region, fourth in the Visayas, and 18th among Philippine universities in the July 2024 Webometrics Ranking of World Universities released recently.
 
According to its website, the Webometrics Ranking is an initiative of the Cybermetrics Lab, a research group that belongs to the largest public research body in Spain, the Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC). The objective is to rank universities based on impact or online visibility, transparency or open access initiatives, and excellence or quality of electronic publications.
 
WVSU has retained its number one ranking in Region VI from the Webometrics of July 2022, though it went a notch lower this year in the Philippine university rankings.
 
Among the criteria, WVSU performed worldwide with a rank of 13,005 for impact, 5,466 for openness, and 5,267 for excellence.
 
WVSU trails behind University of San Carlos, Visayas State University, and Cebu Technological University in the whole of Visayas, while it leads in the Western Visayas region and is closely followed by the University of the Philippines Visayas.

WVSU College of Law Admission

ADMISSION POLICIES AND REQUIREMENTS

  1. Applicants to WVSU College of Law Juris Doctor (JD) Program must have obtained a bachelor’s degree in arts or sciences, or higher academic degree from an authorized and recognized higher education institution as prescribed by the Legal Education Board (LEB).
  2. The College of Law Admissions Committee, with the Dean as admitting officer, shall take into consideration the applicant’s scholastic records and abilities, entrance exam results, interview ratings and other relevant factors for admission.
  3. THE WVSU College of Law JD Program shall be a full-time mode of study to be completed in FOUR (4) YEARS.

ADMISSION PROCEDURE

APPLICATION PERIOD: APRIL 8, 2024 to JUNE 7, 2024 at 5:00 PM

LAW SCHOOL QUALIFYING TEST (LSQT): June 21, 2024, Online

There are two types of applicants. Applicants must make sure under which type they belong before proceeding.

TYPE A. Applicants who do not have an Integrated University Information System (IUIS) account. Applicant who has never been enrolled in the past in any course at WVSU.

Applicants who have previously been enrolled at WVSU but do not yet have an IUIS account also belong to this category.

TYPE B. Those who have already an IUIS account because they have previously been enrolled in another course offering at WVSU, including elementary, high school. College and post-graduate course.

  2. Applicant should also submit to the WVSU College of Law office hard copies of the following documents fastened in long – sized white folder: (Incomplete documents will not be accepted for admission.)
    1. Print out of fully accomplished online application form.
    2. Photocopy of collegiate transcript of records.
    3. If graduation is not yet reflected in the transcript, a true copy of grades or a certification of candidacy for graduation (with the notarized undertaking and waiver)
    4. Two (2) recommendation letters (downloadable form) in a sealed envelope coming from:
      (1) the dean or former professor of the applicant’s last school attended; and
      (2) Any disinterested person (not a relative by consanguinity or affinity) who knows the applicant well enough to provide a true character reference.
      The recommender may also send the recommendation letter directly to [email protected]. Recommendation letters coming from the applicant’s email account will not be recognized.

  3. Applicants must pay the Admission Fee and Testing Fee (Non-refundable)
    1. Admission Fee (P300.00/applicant) will be paid directly to the WVSU Cashier’s office after securing order of payment at WVSU COL Dean’s Office.
    2. Testing fee (₱900.00/applicant) directly to Center for Educational Measurement, Inc. (CEM) prior to taking the test. This amount is inclusive of bank and other applicable charges.

  1. Successful applicants must submit to a panel interview scheduled by the Admissions Committee.
  2. Accepted applicants must undergo and pass the Physical Examination to be conducted by the WVSU physicians and dentist.
  3. Upon enrollment, the 1 ORIGINAL AND 1 PHOTOCOPY of the following must be submitted:
    • Collegiate transcript of records (If graduation is not yet reflected in the transcript, a true copy of grades or certification of candidacy for graduation is required with the notarized undertaking and waiver)

    • Transfer credentials/Honorable dismissal;
    • PSA authenticated Certificate of Live Birth and Certificate of Marriage, if applicable;
    • Certificate of Good Moral Character from the college/ university (last) attended;
    • Two (2) pieces 2″x 2″ I.D. picture with white background;
