Simulation and Experiential Learning Workshop in WVSU ends; capacitates health educators

The West Visayas State University in collaboration with UP Manila and MSU-General Santos through a grant from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) LAKAS Project “Optimising Simulation-based Education (SBE), Training, Collaboration and Research – A Focus on Technology-driven Teaching & Learning Strategies” held a five-day Simulation and Experiential Learning Workshop here at WVSU. It concluded at the College of Medicine on September 8, 2023.

The International Center for AIDS Care and Treatment Programs (ICAP) at Columbia University facilitated the conduct of the activity, during which they organized a series of lectures, scenarios, and workshops on integrating SBE to the curriculum.

On behalf of WVSU University President Dr. Joselito F. Villaruz, Dr. Celina Gellada, Vice President of Medical and Allied Sciences, expressed her gratitude to the facilitators and all the Higher Educational Institutions that participated in the event.

“When you return to your respective universities and colleges, you should also share what you have learned here with your colleagues, students, and other stakeholders that SBE will helps ensure student and patient safety” said Dr. Gellada.

A total of six HEIs from different regions took part in the learning workshop: Cebu Normal University (CNU), Northern Negros State College of Science and Technology (NONESCOST), Mindanao State University (MSU) – Gensan, Central Philippine University (CPU), University of Southern Mindanao (USM), and West Visayas State University (WVSU).
