WVSU receives 1 Million Pesos for DA-RFO-6 Research and Assessment project

The Department of Agriculture, Regional Field Office 6 (DA-RFO-6) issued one million pesos to West Visayas State University to fund a rapid appraisal study to assess the resources and capabilities of the Local Government Units in providing agriculture and fisheries extension services. The fund transferred to the university was intended to be used and liquidated under the approved Work and Financial Plan.

DA-RFO-6 Executive Director Remelyn R. Recoter, MNSA, CESO III and West Visayas State University President Joselito F. Villaruz, MD, Ph.D., FPPS signed the memorandum of agreement.

The ceremonial turn-over of the fund was done during the blessing and inauguration of Smart Greenhouse and Other Agricultural Facilities: Mass Distribution of Interventions, organized by DA-RFO-6 at Western Visayas Integrated Agricultural Research Center (WESVIARC), Jaro, Iloilo City, on March 31, 2022.

As acknowledged by DA-RFO-6 and WVSU, the study will serve as one pivotal reference point in the establishment of the Province-led Agriculture and Fishery Extension System (PAFES). The agreement took effect immediately upon signing by the parties and shall remain in force and effect for a period of one (1) year.
