GOALS
- To provide state of the art pulmonary patient care with the highest quality and compassion.
- Advance this state-of-the-art through biomedical research, and
- Teach residents, interns, medical students and other trainees the knowledge and skills to sustain this mission into the future.
OBJECTIVES
The Pulmonary Unit aims to:
- Provide a well coordinated team to give optimal care to pulmonary patients at the West Visayas State University Medical Center.
- Offer expert yet affordable diagnostic and therapeutic pulmonary services to patients in need for such.
- Provide professional ancillary services to aid the hospital’s health caregivers in the proper pulmonary care for their patients;
- Educate resident physicians, medical students, nurses, paramedical personnel and other interested personnel in the proper assessment and treatment of pulmonary cases and the delivery of good pulmonary care;
- Organize programs for patient education regarding their conditions;
- Provide venue for research.
FUNCTIONS
The Pulmonary Unit has the following functions:
- Performs pulmonary function test.
- Arterial blood gas analysis.
- Provides mechanical ventilations in the hospital setting.
- Administers per-operative respiratory care (Including Incentive Spirometry)
- Peak Flow Rate Monitoring (PFRM)
- Administers Nebulization Theraphy (Pulmo aide inhalation & In-line nebulization) to ICU Complex patients.
- Provides non-invasive ventilation such as : CPAP/BIPAP
