WVSU ranks among top 10 PH universities in UI GreenMetric World University Ranking on green campus and evnt’l sustainability

The UI GreenMetric World University Rankings at 7 p.m. of Dec. 5, 2023, released the results of world rankings by universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives with WVSU ranking 10th among Philippine universities that joined and is the only university in Western Visayas to gain the said recognition.

According to its website, “Through 39 indicators in 6 criteria, UI GreenMetric World University Rankings prudently determined the rankings by universities’ environmental commitment and initiatives.”

Initiated by Universitas Indonesia in 2010, “the Rankings have seen a dramatic increase of participants from 95 universities in 35 countries in 2010 to 1183 universities in 85 countries in 2023.”

The Philippine universities that placed in the global rankings are the following: De La Salle University – Dasmarinas; Mariano Marcos State University; Batangas State University, The National Engineering University; De La Salle University Manila; University of Northern Philippines; Samar State University; Tarlac Agricultural University; Catanduanes State University; Bukidnon State University; and West Visayas State University.

It is the first time for WVSU to join the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings.

The following are the criteria and indicators on which the rankings are based: Setting and infrastructure, energy and climate change, waste, water, transportation, education and research.

WVSU holds performance review for FY 2023; midterm review of WVSU dev’t plan 2021-2025

The WVSU administration, deans of colleges, directors, and heads of various offices are holding an annual Performance Review for FY 2023 and the Midterm Review of the WVSU Strategic Development Plan 2021-2025 on December 5-7, 2023, at the Center for Teaching Excellence (CTE) Building.

The theme of the review is “Fortifying Research and Innovation Programs Towards Becoming a Research University”.

The said activities provide the university with an opportunity to reflect on its collective achievements and challenges and is a venue to discuss shared goals and strategies for the future.

Currently presenting this afternoon of Dec. 5, 2023 is the College of Information Communication and Communications and Technology led by Dean Beth Concepcion.

Earlier today, the following presented their reports: the Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the College of Education, and the College of PESCAR.

Allyn Navarra, Vice Chairperson of the Senior Curriculum Council and Von Ashley Chichirita, Chairperson of the CICT Student Council, both from the College of Information and Communications Technology are in Davao for the International Volunteerism Symposium and Volunteer Fair held at University of Mindanao, Matina Campus, Davao City

The event aims to provide a venue for international and local volunteers for network building, highlight the role and contributions in fostering international cooperation, and as a means towards achieving the country’s sustainable development goals. This also opens doors for institutionalization of volunteerism in the academe.


The event will also be joined by international volunteer service organizations and local government units.
