The VOICE of the University, remains an echo in our MEMORY!

College of Communication march with pride and honor for West Visayas State University’s Graduation Ceremony today, July 21, 2022. The ceremonial rites are conducted face-to-face at the premises of WVSU Cultural Center. Despite the administering of the said set-up, minimum protocols are howbeit observed. This year, the college has given rise to 93 students who are eligible for graduation and 1 from graduate school.

The three departmental courses under the College of Communication are mainly; Bachelor of Arts in Broadcasting, Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, and Bachelor of Science in Development Communication.

A total of 33 Academic Awardees, including 17 Magna Cum Laude graduates and 16 Cum Laude graduates, were produced by the Broadcasting division. The Journalism division, on the other hand, brought forth 21 Academic Awardees in total, including 6 Magna Cum Laude graduates and 15 Cum Laude graduates. Meanwhile, the Development Communication division also welcomed 21 Academic Awardees, containing the first-ever Summa Cum Laude of the COC, 11 Magna Cum Laude graduates, and 9 Cum Laude graduates.

John Aubrey Jamero from BAB, Greg Nicole Sala from BAJ, and Sam Sydryk Dealagdon from BSDC were hailed as the Most Outstanding Students of their degree program respectively.

Everly Flores, a 4th year broadcasting student, expressed her mixed emotions for their graduation rites. “As our most awaited moment draws nearer, bittersweet feelings surface from within me as I recall all the challenges we’ve been through as a student from this institution. The bitter taste of goodbyes as we close another chapter in our lives, and the sweet taste of success after years of hard work”, said Flores.

She also extended a message to her fellow graduates with an undecided path to take.”Getting a degree and graduating from my dream University has always been my goal. At this point in our lives, some may have a clearer vision for their future, and that’s good! But to those who are like me, know that you are not alone and we will all figure it out.”

Those who braved to dive the uncertainties of the pedagogical abyss have redeemed their holy grail. A total of 94 graduates withstand the incessant mishaps and countless unprecedented fall.

This history amidst the pandemic is one for the books — remembered through ages and ages of time. Your voices shall forever echo in the university, COC Batch 2022 Graduates!
